Saw this beauty at my dealer today. A new addition since my last visit a week or so ago.

The carrot orange caught my eye. :)  Build quality is great and judging from my experience with Line Magnetic so far I'd bet it sounds pretty good.

I know I'll eventually end up with another DAC even while I attempt to stay in the analog realm. This one is now on my list to try.

This DAC is very intriguing to me.  A Sabre 9016 chip with an analog sound is pretty cool.  If it can keep the detail and resolution of the Sabre chip while providing a smooth, natural sound then that would be the ultimate.  Has anyone heard it yet?  I am fearful that it will tend too much towards the lush/euphonic/muddy side of neutral for me.

I always feel that if you like tubes you should put it to the amps. Would the DAC with tubes add in a lot of distortion?

It has an SS output as well if that's a concern.

And all you have to do is push a button to switch between tube and transistor.

I put an order in for one and hopefully I will be getting it in about three days.

One quick question though, I asked for the silver one because I also bought the Line Magnetic Mini 218 IA amp, which only comes in silver. The dac is also available in black all around or the copper brushed front with silver all around. I thought about changing to the copper front one, should I make the change?

I'd stay silver if you got the 218. The orange front looks a bit odd at first and I definitely prefer matching components.

Good choice on the amp.

Thanks MT. The 218 that I bought is the Mini, which is my first entry into the tube world. It will be more than enough for my headphones and also for the size of any speaker that I would consider putting into these relatively small Hong Kong flats. :)

I just got a call from my dealer to tell me that my dac is ready for pick up. I will try to pick it up today after work and I'll try to post up some first impressions if I can get everything hooked up tonight.

BTW, here is the post I made in my thread that brought me to this equipment selection.
