New launch - iFi audio iSILENCER3.0

So far so good. I’m noting similar battery usage with the iSilencer + DFR vs. DFR alone, but haven’t done exhaustive testing. Seems like about 10% battery use per hour with an iPhone 8.

As far as performance, I’m very happy with the iSilencer so far. The noise floor sounds reduced. It’s not as large of an effect as the iPurifier 2 or iUSB nano, but still worth the price for me. When plugged in, running iSilencer plus the iPurifier sounds even better. The main effect I notice is less distorted treble without loss of detail. Also the music sounds smoother and more relaxing. Bass seems more defined as well and is consistent with a site I saw that measured most of the noise reduction in the bass frequencies.

Thank you for nice words, we're happy that this product works for you.

Hi there, Just a quick One: would It Be ok to plug It to a Nano idsd, considering It has a female A usb? I mean, would It work in such "direction"? Cheers

iSILENCER does draw some extra power, around 22mA (exact amount depends on power voltage). It is hard to say if this will be too much for iPhone. iPurifier2 for USB draws a lot more current, probably around 120mA. It runs a complete USB 2 reclocker/repeater.
im a little confused about how isilencer 3.0 is different that ipurifier 3. both are not active components, correct? (as in they are not powered.)
from the descriptions that you provided it seems like using both in chain is redundant, right?

how are they different is functionality?

We've explained what these items do here:

https://ifi-audio.com/products/idefender3-0/

...and here:

https://ifi-audio.com/products/isilencer3-0/

In a nutshell, iSilencer3.0 reduces USB noise and iDefender3.0 breaks ground loops and can provide separate 5V line via iPower.

These items are not alike and, since they do fundamentally address different issues, they can work together.

What i said was that the application and technology is iSILENCER 3.0 and IPURIFIER 3 are not clear to me from toyr websire description and i never mentioned idefender.

Our bad. In any case, the difference between iPurifier3.0 and iSilencer3.0 is significant. The former is essentially a far smaller, less effective (but still very good!) and easier on a wallet version of iUSB3.0, thus a device which reclocks, rebalances and regenerates USB signal. iSilencer3.0 is, as we've said in our previous post, reduces USB noise.

ifi isilencer removes noise from data and power line of usb and does not come in any way of data by reclocking etc. ifi ipurifier reclocks the data hence need more power. your pc will see ifi ipurifier as a device and not your dac . while with ifi isilencer it will not come in the way of data transmission except removing noise and pc will see your dac as device so you will be able to use full capabilities of your dac , like in built clock of dac , higher resolution files ( if your dac supports format higher than ifi ipurifier ). I use ifi isilencer with chord Hugo 2 in between the android and dac. I also plan to use ifi offender to further isolate the noise from power line.

for optical route I use ifi spdif ipurifier which takes input from coaxial and optical out and output as coaxial/optical after reclocking and does sound very good with Hugo 2.

since then i bought and used both. i detect no difference from iSilencer at all. for iDefender i would suggest you dont use it if you dont have a ground loop problem. i had a very nasty and loud humming noise in my speakers due to a ground loop. the idefender 100% eliminated it. very effective. but if there is no ground loop problem, it is just a waste of 50 bucks to use it.

there is a definite improvement through ifi isilencer. ifi offender should also improve the sound by isolating the dac from noisy power line of usb out of android transport.
