It appears that the long-rumored (?) s-JAYS will finally get released this year, at least in Japan, according to Japanese distributor General Trading KK. The s-JAYS made their appearance in this catalog (PDF) for the Japanese market. I certainly find them interesting in more ways than one.

Check this out.

They use the new JAYS technology Sirens. Sirens uses the same technology as the micro armature but in the same form factor as a normal dynamic driver.

They most likely have something like this inside:

Very interesting! I wonder what the benefits to that design are sound-wise.
But this is what really caught my attention:

Aren't the j-JAYS around $50? That would be amazing if a great-sounding BA driver canalphone retails for far less than $100.

That's exactly what I thought at first.

Although I have to admit, I like toughnut's description better. Make sure you protect your eardrums.

Hi Peter,
Where in your product line do these fit?
the reviewer bought them for <£40 but they're advertised on your website for ~£65.
how do they compare to the d-jays?

Hi,

It's like this.

j-JAYS > s-JAYS > d-JAYS > q-JAYS

Compared to d-JAYS they provide a more powerful bass. Other than that they are pretty similiar in sound actually. It's always hard to describe sound in plain text
