New Hifiman HM-802 DAP Announced

Hi bro, thanks for the
I'd love to hear that as well, some one has mentioned the hm802 isn't... as thick and slow as the hm801. So that may mean a touch less emphasis on low mids, or even less decay on the hm802 as opposed to the h801, or the hm802 could have more attack. Just speculation from me at this point, my only DAPS have been the hm601 and hm801 so I lie the Hifiman sound lol, although I really do not like the design an asthetics of the new models
Thks pal for the comments. Ya I think I still hold on to the 801 for time being.

Hm 802 spec (from first post)
DAC: Dual Wolfson WM8740
Amp Section: OPA627 based
Battery: 16.8v Lithium battery pack

Hm801
DAC Chip: Burr-Brown PCM1704U-K (for Player, Coaxial and USB)
Op-Amp: OPA627
14.8 volt Lithium Polymer Battery Bay

The HM-801 uses DUAL PCM-1704U DAC
Also, some HM-801 were fitted with a slightly better grade and more expensive PCM-1704U-K DAC in order to keep the HM-801 production during shortages of the regular PCM-1704U.

The HM-801 comes factory with regular mini-jack and the option of upgrading to balanced (btw well worth the upgrade IMO) while the HM-802 comes factory balanced.
On this note, I am able to play all my non balanced headphones straight into my HM-801 balanced mini-jack without the need of an adaptor (not sure if it applies to the HM-802 but I don't see why not). However, connecting balanced headphones into a non balanced player (such as iphone...) will only play on one cannel unless I use a balanced to non balanced cable adaptor.

Probably because it is warmer and more forgiving than the 901. It's a very musical DAP. :)

On the HM901 appreciation thread, everyone has been raving about the new standard card named the Classic card because it is supposed to have been tuned to sound like the 801.

When I ordered the 802 with standard card, it came with the classic card. Very nice. Here's the photo of the classic card.

I am frankly quite surprised that the HM802 is still relatively unknown because it does have such a musical and organic sig. Guess everyone is still bowled over the astonishing transparency of the HM 901. :)

Hehe Kiats, its because hm901 owners will not agree to carry a hm901 looking thing for 0.01dB less of performance. LoL
by the way, does the HM802 have better battery life?

I happily carry both. :) yes, the battery is better. Not precisely measured it, but on the Classic card, I'd give it about 9-10 hours.
