Ok, I got some Grado 125i's and a Audioengine D1 DAC. I hear stuff I never knew was on a cd that I listened to just two weeks ago. 
Had onboard pc sound and some cheap $20 headphone if that. I took a HUGE step in sound quality...I feel like I got bit by a bug and want more.
 
Now the million dollar question... If I add a larger amp to the D1 will the sound quality out of my Grado's improve or does the D1 push em as far as they can go.

The D1 is a fine dac.  I think adding in an amp between the dac and headphones would help 'refine' the sound, though IMO I would upgrade headphones next before getting an amp =]
