could someone compare the current Obravo ra-c vs Sony Ier z1r?
Thanks
What makes you think a ra-c owner has a IER-Z1R? lol, never even listened to that IEM :p

I just received my oBravo Ra C Cu 21 edition. This is a new version with a new tuning worked on jointly between oBravo and Phil Wannell from Audio Concierge in the UK.

I had both old and new versions for a short time and the difference was considerable even without much run in time on the new pair. Physically they look no different except some improvements in the copper PVD coating. Internally the DD has had considerable re-engineering.

My biggest concern with the original Ra was a very modest bass extension despite their large drivers. This has now been vastly improved.

More thoughts to come. But in brief...

Reference sound with extremely well articulated and detailed presentation at all frequencies. Bass is extended and able to excite but remains controlled with bags of texture at all times. Mids are a particularly strong suit of the Ra with vocals brought forward and "live" , both female and male. Highs are delicate and detailed but without being forced, bright or adding sibilance. Soundstage is incredibly wide beyond any other IEM I own but less in a front back aspect.

I was blown away by listening to Buena Vista Social Club s/t, the soundstage was simply stunning where I could place the voices and instruments with precision as if I was there.

More commentary to come!
What cable is this? The colour and the stem match Ra-C-Cu really, really well!

I thought I should add some photos, while I still have the Ra-21 C (upgrading to Ra-C-Cu courtesy of Mr Audio Concierge letting me change my mind hehe @PhilW )

are they still priced at $10k?

Pure curiosity :)
I actually chatted to a friend, who has the previous Ra-C-Cu and, drum roll, the ier z1r.

He told me he still likes the Sony when he needs a closed back iem but prefers the Obravos in all other cases.

Happy Friday everyone! I had a pretty great day at work listening to the Ra 21-C exclusively on my SP2000 today.

I am getting more and more confident in my decision to sell my Thummim and stick to Ra as my sole iem.

I even found myself opting for Ra+sp2k over the Utipia+Arche through the whole day, which were within my reach at the desk.

Loving it!

@PhilW did you not mention you will be doing a Facebook stream on the new Ra, along with some other exciting stuff you have coming up?

When is it? I'd be pretty keen to tune in if the day/time are convinient?

I will likely be going live next week. At the moment 3 of 4 of the Ra 21's I have are currently out with clients
