Hey Head-Fiers,
I heard you guys were the internet haven for headphone help, so I decided to get on here and get myself some. Here's my problem:
I bought these Sony earbuds (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+Earbud+Headphones+-+Black/8703414.p?id=1199496037667&skuId=8703414&IcsCsid=2-39-1092-25-5-18783-5897-25-1092-820-25-1092-3650-0-2) one or two days after Christmas of 2009. So I've had them a little over a year. I used them almost every day, for approximately 3-5 hours.
I would wrap them up when I was done (not around my iPod, but very loosely in a circle around my hand, and put them up on a shelf in their own little spot. I didn't pull the jack in or out of my iPod constantly or anything of that sort. A few days ago, the left ear started going on me. Now to get them to work I have to try to situate them in a very specific position, and even then, they won't work. Frustrated as I am, I've basically caved in and decided to get new earbuds. That's where you come in.
I'm by no means an audiophile. To illustrate, if you're familiar with those headphones I had, I thought they were great-sounding (even though I'm sure they're nothing to what you guys are used to). So I don't really need audiophilic headphones, but I would like ones with some degree of quality. I don't care too much about the form, as long as they're like those, and not something like these (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/JVC+-+Sports-Clip+Earbud+Headphones+-+Black/9808915.p?id=1218177168588&skuId=9808915), since I find them uncomfortable.
I mainly listen to hip-hop, rock, and metal, with some pop and lighter stuff like that. I don't know if that matters or not. Lastly, I want to stay in the range of $60. No more than $75, but I'd be reluctant to even go that steep.
Also, is there anything I can do to assure that my next pair of headphones last longer? I'm sure that for $40, I could expect to get more than a year of usage. Thank you all.
