New Beyerdynamic Pro X line: DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X
Oct 10, 2021 at 5:27 AM Post #61 of 902
I decided to order the 900 Pro X, I'll give my impressions in a few days. I got a few headphones to compare with, Sundara, HD650 (and 58X), TGYR 300R, and HE-500. I'm hoping these will be an upgrade to the TYGR, as I already like those even more than the DT880.
Be really interested to hear your comparisons to the TYGR! I’d like these to replace those in my collection also.

My 700 Pro arrived yesterday. I‘ve not had much time to listen to them yet but first impressions were quite positive:

  • Love the looks and build quality. Feels sturdy, the height adjust mechanism feels nice and has small steps.
  • The earpads are so damn comfortable. Quite deep as well compared to other headphones.
  • Clamping force ootb is on the higher side, no problem for me but ymmv.
  • Detachable cable is obviously a good thing. The connector feels sturdy.
  • On the sound: first thing that struck me were detail and separation. Was able to pick apart different instruments well without a loss in coherency. So really coherent as well. I usually like to test things like detail and separation with acoustic tracks or orchestras since I can pick out any odd or weird sounding instruments quite easily there.
  • also no hot zones in the frequency response to my ears. have yet to hear any sibilance.
Again, very early impressions, but if they keep this trend they are winners

Show pics please! I'm also guessing that there's less of a treble emphasis relative to DT 770

Been trying to find a closed back M40X upgrade. The 700's might be it.

Really like that the Box is made completely out of recycled paper. Kudos to Beyer on that!

The pads only look like marshmallows; you cannot eat them. They are as soft as marshmallows though!

Call me intrigued. I have put the DT150s numerous times in an online shopping basket but ultimately decided not to complete the order, because of the supposed channel imbalance people complain about.
Maybe these 700Xs will be my 1st pair of Beyers?

They are interesting, I am eyeing the 700 X's myself as I already have plenty of open headphones. Not in a hurry though but they will likely be my next headphone depending on how reviews, etc. turn out. I do have the T1 Gen 3 which is my favorite headphone of anything I've ever owned. I think you're in for a treat, Beyers tend to be really good imho, I just found many older ones can be too bright but they have been addressing that better with recent releases.
