I guess back in December you and I were literally were hearing two different headphones. Luckily mine certainly did not sound the way you just described, but yours did. Its unfortunate that this had to happen with such a special product's release, but I'm glad to see that things are getting back on track.

It certainly clears up a lot of mysteries. I'm curious as to reasons why, but Audeze has every right to be tight-lipped. The important thing is that they are taking care of everyone.

P.S. I think someone asked me a week ago how I liked these compared to the HD800s.

  • The HD800s have been sitting. I'm sure I'll eventually get back to them.
  • You don't see me lending out my LCD3s on a state-wide tour like the last time around.

For someone who never heard the LCD-2, how does one identify veiled LCD-3's? I just purchased a second hand pair from Dec. I actually really like their sound. Lots of bass punch and detail is certainly there. Midrange is a bit laid back but has been getting better as they break-in (they were basically unused).

I am a newbie so don't have much reference at this point but they certainly sound way more resolving than the HD650 or T50RP that I have also tried.

Does any of this help determine if mine are ok or not? Are all pre-March LCD-3's veiled or only some units?

He was back... briefly. He's verboten at the moment, though I don't know whether temporarily or til December 21st.

I saw a post he made on his new name on this thread but it was removed within nano seconds

If I were him, I'd come back and be like "Oh, I love the LCD3, but I'm so poor my $100 CD Player just isn't good enough for them."

I went through his posts and just cannot see a reason why he was banned other than obnoxious flaunting of wealth!

Including posts from other threads? Ones that needed to be locked. I'm sure half all of nasty stuff has already been purged. Wonder if anyone's been collecting screen-shots?

Yeah, I went to his old profile but of course your right they do tend to cover their backs here by removing the offending stuff.
