New Audeze LCD3

The $250 is fazor to fazor

I wanted to know the price before I purchased a used LCD3 with a 2014 fazor.  $250 is affordable for the price I purchased it used for.  $500 to me is an issue.  Especially since it seems common for a driver to go out.  Mine is under 3 year warranty until May but I was being over cautious about future cost if my driver goes out after May.

Mine's out of warranty, but either way I will keep this in mind if mine ever breaks and try to haggle :)

The $250 price is also for out of warranty.  I was interested in the 2016 fazor driver upgrade since mine are 2014 fazor.  I would be really bothered if they have already jumped up to $500 since November.

If anyone else could chime with their recent driver cost that would be great.

This is random, but has anyone ever repaired one of the audeze stock cables?

The stocker on my 3 is cutting out, which appears to be happening @ the 6.3mm plug. I have an aftermarket cable, but I would repair the original if possible. Can't seem to get the connector apart though.

Just received my first ever Audeze can with the LCD3F, man what a dynamic headphone! Im sure that low end trumps my previous HD800 & 800S. Some great listening sessions coming up!

I'm thinking about picking up a pair of pre-fazor LCD-3's. Can anyone tell me how the warmth and richness compares to the HD-650 and LCD 2.2 (Pre-Fazor)? The HD-650 is probably my favourite headphone of all time due to its smoothness, but particularly warmth. Clearly the LCD-3 is going to be the technically better can, but put that aside for the moment.

You will need some serious amp to get the Lcd-3 ahead of the Hd650, i was very disapointed when i got the lcd3 pre-fazor with my Lake people g109 comparing to my hd650, they were very very similar. I started to read about a amp that could take the Audeze to an other level and i ended up buying the Schiit Mjolnir for 380€.

Then, i realized the true potential of the Audeze and OMG, it was beyond my expectations. The richness, cleaness, fluidity, space, impact, everything was taken to a whole other level vs the hd650.

Looking to upgrade my amp/dac for my LCD-3F. Has anyone compared the Schiit Mjolnir + Gungnir vs the Hugo for these?

I had the Mjolnir/Gumby with the LCD 3F (never had the Hugo though) all I can say that it is a bliss. The gumby is very resolving and also a bit on the warmer side and the Mjolnir is powerful enough to pack a punch, which made them really shine. I asked myself why didn't I buy them long back BUT the right driver broke in just two weeks and now it's on the way for the repairs :frowning2:

Same here!  I picked up a pre-loved HeadAmp GS-X mk2 (a "serious amp") and was impressed with how much more I could get out of my LCD-3's.

The GS-X Mk2 is indeed a serious amp drives both the LCD-4 and LCD-3 brilliantly!

I guess they both are on a different league. Though the HD650s scales up with better gear they are no where near a properly amped LCD 3s. Like everyone said the mids on the LCD 3s are the best in business and many including myself prefer them over the LCD 4s. Especially the pre fazor version take you to the darkest side of headphone listening :)

It also depends on the amp used with it. With the Schiit Mjolnir, it's not dark, the upper region shines very very well this this amp, while the chocolate butter smoothness is preserved. This is pure magic this combination of details in the highs while maintaining softness for the ears.
