New Arrival of FiiO UTWS5 all over the World

Would you be able to add a low pass filter option to the ambient mode in the firmware? Or an EQ for it would work too.
Right now it amplifies high frequency sound far too much and it would be nice to taper off this high frequency to make it sound more natural.
Dear friend,

The PEQ has been added for UTWS5 in latest firmware. You could download the latest firmware for UTWS5 and have a try: https://forum.fiio.com/note/showNoteContent.do?id=202203231057051219397&tid=125

Best regards

The EQ in the FiiO control app only affects the sound being played through the UTWS5 though and doesn't affect the ambient mode sound at all. I would really like either an EQ or a lowpass filter that affects only the ambient mode sound.
Currently, ambient brings in too many high frequencies, over exaggerating that upper range sound. Id like a way to roll off these frequencies so it sounds much more natural.

I’m hoping there’s a UTWS25 coming for 2023 with QCC5181 so that we can add 16/48 lossless over LE Audio and spatial audio to any mmcx IEM.

Yes, I hope so too.
BT 5.3, AptX Adaptive Lossless 16/48, spacial audio, head tracking awareness in spacial audio, and less power usage as well!
Maybe smaller and lighter too! And with your EQ/filter modifications too.

The QCC5181 should do aptX Adaptive/Lossless over LE Audio which is supposed to mean much less power usage compared to the current chipsets that can't do it over LE Audio. So, the QCC5181 is a win-win all around. They would be crazy to use anything else. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

hi @FiiO , since these have ipx4, i assume its to enable use while running, training, or otherwise sweating. if so, can you recommend a closed design (not semi-open) IE of yours that also tolerates that kind of activity (ipx4 if possible)? i am looking for a comfortable one in the 250usd or lower range with decent isolation and little sound leakage. first time buying IEs so i would appreciate any suggestion, if such a model exists.

@FuzzyEars357 I tried that with utws3 (predecessor) and FH3. Training and indoorbiking was meh, running was a really bad experience caused by structure-bone sound. I ended up using Complyfoam vented smart core and switched to another solution (sportearbud/IEM mix).
The easiest way of exploring would be fiios fw5 tws.
If you still want to try, Fiio FJ and FA series would be a good Startingpoint.
FD and FH series with their alloyshells are a tad heavy and will get smeary and heated after high intensity.
There is a ton more of reasons to not use IEMs, especially without transparency mode for Sport’s, but that is another discussion.

Well, after less than two months of light use, my UTWS5 crapped out on me. The case just stopped responding. No light, no charging, and no recognition of the earpieces. And all that happened after my UTWS1 died within 6 months of use. Didn't bother with it though. Seems like a severe reliability issue with the UTWS line.

What do I do?

Dear friend,

If it is an ear hook, you can check out JW1 on AliExpress.

Best regards
