Currently streaming the new Gorillaz album, Plastic Beaches. So far I'm really enjoying it. Tempted to buy it on release, which I rarely do. Quite unlike their other two before. More of an avant-garde soundscape than a pop album, but it's still got plenty of groove sprinkled throughout to keep the feet tapping.

At the very least, the first half is good!

I'm not able to listen until Friday/Thursday night.

I'm both excited and curious to hear it though.

Caleb, what did you think of the Spoon album? A lot of hype leading up to it, but Pitchfork's review was a bit uhhh mixed so I've put off getting it.

I never really cared for any of Spoon's full-length albums as albums. There is always a couple songs (oddly enough they are often not singles) off each Spoon album that I really really really like, but the rest of the album doesn't grab me. Like on Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga i absolutely love "The Ghost of You Lingers" + "You've Got Yr Cherry Bomb" and "The Underdog" but the rest of the album I did not like at all. Transference was in the same boat for me; I only like a couple songs on it.

Anyone heard JJ - nº 3 yet? Impressions?

I've heard it quite a few times.
I absolutely loved jj nº 2 - it was one of my favorite albums of 2009
but jj nº 3, while it was a pleasant enjoyable listen, I thought it felt rushed, less cohesive than jj nº 2, less artistic and creative, and less genuine... idk, i felt they tried to hard to be all dreamy and surreal that it didn't feel as natural as their first album... it felt more forced. that was just my take on it though! and i do still listen to some songs on it from time to time.

It's about time we heard something from Tool, although I can't help but think the band members have lost almost all interest in the band.

I'd also love new Arcade Fire, Radiohead, and Opeth, please.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what Trent Reznor has to offer for 2010. He's made it pretty clear (on nin.com) that he's working on some new material.

^ I also like the new Gil Scott-Heron album very much. I am not sure if it's the best so far in 2010, but it's up there together with Yeasayer, Vampire Weekend and Laura Veirs.

I hated both, Yeasayer, Vampire Weekend. Yeasayer`s last album was fine, I enjoyed some tracks but new one is major meh. as Vampire Weekend..... no comments :p

There is a small change Valleys of Neptune will not be the best album of the year, but at least the most special, looking forward to buying it, tomorrow

Hope Portishead finds a way to release their fourth album, and that it will be as good as their previous 3

I'm listening to it right know and it's jamming man! Classic Hendrix stuff, this is awesome! The cover is pretty good but not my favorite track from the album. Very good stuff!

I'm only on track 12 but on first impression thus far i do not think it is as good as "Demon Days" I'll have to give it some more listens. I loved "On Melancholy Hill" though.

Checking out this album. Any comments on it? Tones Of Town (2007) was actually good.

Allmusic describe them this way:
their colorful blend of Beach Boys melodies filtered through a post-rock aesthetic has drawn comparisons to the New Pornographers and the Futureheads

Do you mean their newest album "Measure"? Since this is the 2010 thread you're posting in...

If so, I just couldn't get into the music after a few minutes. It just seemed so...uninvolved and plain.
