Another battery pack option just showed up. Thought I'd post for those (especially 3G iPod and 1G mini owners) who want to extend battery life.

Just a question, im building USB battery chargers for the ipod at 5V. I know how to do this just fine. What i need to know is if you or anyone knows if the voltage is the same for all DAP's? I want to build one for my X5 but i dont dare just plug it in to see if it takes 5v lol. Thanks.

I might consider getting one of these, especially since it's only twenty bucks. I've got a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries too.
What are the other options for extra battery packs? Anything else this cheap?

I'm a little confused about the feature quoted below. So if the switch is OFF the iPod is powered from this device after the iPod's battery is depleted?

"The accessory features an on/off switch and LED, and charges the internal iPod battery when attached to the iPod."
