Neko Case & Her Boyfriends

Anyone ever hear of this band? They have a video in the Special Features part of the DVD for the movie The Gift starring Cate Blanchett. It is a very haunting southern female vocal that is, at the same time, very beautiful. The song is called "Furnace Room Lullaby." I'm going to go look for their album with this song. Anyone a fan of this band? I'd never heard of them until last night when my wife and I watched this movie.

I think she's Canadian actually. The album is also called Furnace Room Lullabye.

She's also in a "supergroup" composed of some canadian musicians from various bands called "new Pornographers" that got some raves when it was released recently. I think she's only on a few songs on that one.

As they say, if you are going to bump, bump big.

Been listening to ALOT of Neko lately, which is the usual. Anything with her on it is great. She has released several albums since this thread started, the best being Blacklisted, in my opinion. Her work with the New Pornographers is also stunning. If you like female vocals, and a bit of country, you will be very very very happy.

Quite the bump.

I'd place Fox Confessor Brings The Flood (one of the best albums of last year) over Blacklisted (both under just her name) and Furnace. She's a full member of the New Pornographers so I think has creative input on most tracks.

Hear Hear, Fox Confessor Brings The Flood was my favorite album of last year. I can't stop listening to it...and this is coming from a metalhead.

walk, don't run, to get "Twin Cinema" by the New Pornographers. Been thinking about getting the heavy vinyl on that for a bit.

"These are the Fables" - 2 minutes, 39 seconds in. Oh Yeah.

agreed, but the sound quality on all the New Pornographers is pretty poor. I'm not even that picky but the SQ is...gag me...

given, it's worse than "Your Body is a Wonderland" by John Mayer (yes, i heard it, my wife owns the CD) but which would you rather listen to? i'd rather spin me up some Spanish Techno!

Catch her Austin City Limits DVD if you can, it's a great performance. The label put a few songs from it on Youtube, so you can see a bit of it there: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-XJ4qi-PeMs

I bought the DVD and the audio portion is excellent. I also note that it's recently been released on CD.

It's on CD? Nice. I ripped the DVD's audio track for my ipod, and I definitely agree on the quality. Those Austin City Limits people do know how to record a concert.
