Sennheiser HD650.

I just looked up the specs on your source.  They may not have the juice for the 650s.  Perhaps look into the Sennheiser HD598.

What kind of budget? The hd598 is pretty good if you don't like a lot of bass. Very comfortable for sure and great soundstage.

Personally I would recommend the SrH-940, they are excellent with the jazz I listen to and I think they will be good with R&B. The bass is considered light by some but I personally find it is good for most genres and if not can be easily boosted with some EQ and responds well to EQing. They also have modest amp requirements. New they are $300 but can also be had in the FS section for around $200. They have extremely good mids and treble with amazing detail.

Open: DT440, HD598, or AD900 (though theses are a bit light on bass)
Closed: DT250 (80 ohm version is probably easier to drive if only using the Cowon. Treble is a bit laid back)

How about some openions on the dt 990, Ultrasone and V Moda crossfader lp2.
Just curious which would be better as a back up budget phone, Koss pro dj100 or Creative labs Aurara live
