Hello, I'm new in this forum and I hope you can help me out.

I'm planning to buy some headphones in the <50$ range but I don't know which headphone to choose. I'm gonna use them in my desktop pc at home, nothing else.

I have read great reviews of the following ones:

Sony MDR-XB500

JVC Xtreme Xplosives HA-M5X

JVC HA-RX700

Audio-Technica ATHM40FS

Which one is better? Would you recommend something else (max 60 dollars)?

Thanks in advance

You're going to need to tell us a bit more about what you want.

So... you're going to use it on your PC. For what? Games? Music? Movies? How much of each? And of course, what kind of games/movies/music/etc.

Do you have a preference for open or closed headphones?

And lastly, if you have any preferences regarding emphasis on bass, mids, and trebles.

Well, I'm going to use them mainly for listening to music. I don't really mind what kind of headphones they are. I want headphones that reproduce the song as it is, I mean, if the song emphatizes bass, then I would like to hear bass, if the song emphatizes treble, then I want to hear treble. I don't want (for example) headphones to add extra bass, I want them to reproduce the song normally, as it was intended to be listened. Most of the music I listen to are electronica/dubstep/house/drumnbass/electro and while I know most of those genres make heavy use of bass, I wouldn't like to hear more than what the artists want me to hear.

Hmm... neutral headphones at <50 USD price range? Sounds like it's Superlux to the rescue!

These are my suggestions:
Superlux HD668B (also check out the Samson SR850, which are a rebranding of this)
Superlux HD669

Neutral leaning headphones are rather rare at such a price range, but Superlux delivers. Obviously, local availability and pricing may be an issue. The 668B is more popular and is likely more easily available. The main difference between the two is that the 668B is semi-open and the 669 is closed. Someone else might be able to offer more choices.
