I'm not sure I'm following... so he shipped you a pair of IEMs, you received them, you stopped your shipping and did not send your headphones to him even though you said you would... and you're complainting about him?

I understand 4 days without a reply is a lot when conducting a trade, I would get shaky too and maybe intercept the package too, or actually I would not ship until he said "I have everything ready and will ship today/tomorrow". But at this point isn't it beyond obvious that your concerns were unfunded? Do you not have his X10s? I mean how can he scam you? Either ship him your M50s or PM him asking if he'd like them back, although I don't see the point. Unless you feel like the X10s are fake I really don't see what's wrong.

Wow, I don't know what to say to the last two posts.

Obviously he did not scam me.  And I already said I would ship his stuff back to him at my cost.

He did say that he had everything ready and that he would ship the next day...then I heard nothing from him for more than four days.

Maybe this is the normal way to conduct trades.  I would not know since this was my first time trading headphones.   I doubt it though, since the other member who dealt with this guy wrote in the email he sent met that, "Out of
around 100 trades/sales/buys on head-fi he was the only one that went this way."

I still don't know what to make of that previous trade. His excuse wasn't exactly unbelievable, but it's weird that he didn't reply to PMs both at that time and with you. In your case after 4 days I'd be freaked out too, and that isn't exacly acceptable from a seller - so no it isn't the normal way. But as soon as you get the X10 and verify they don't sound like fakes it's clear everything went well. I'm glad it did, we don't need another Rihard.

I have to agree with this. Sometimes I don't respond immediately to messages, and there have been plenty of trading opportunities where other people I've dealt with haven't immediately responded to messages. It doesn't make me or them any more or less trustworthy, and I've made lots of friends have had lots of successful trades, purchases, and sales while being here. It's just that people have other things going on in their lives. I would have to say OP is the harder person to deal with in a trade, objectively.

One's entire life need not be the forum they participate in.

Based on the PMs exchange you pasted the other party said nothing about shipping with a registration number.  You just made the assumption that he would.

The other party fulfilled his end of the trade by shipping his items in good faith.  You have his X10s.

You did *not* fulfill your end of the trade.  You still have your headphones.

Ship his items back and compensate him for his shipping costs.  Asking for the other party to compensate you when it was you who made the mistake is pretty rude.

Frankly, the other party in this transaction has a legitimate complaint and you should feel lucky that they haven't come on and complained about *you*.

Sorry, I just don't agree with this at all.

If you are participating in a trade then you must at least set some time to send a message with the word "shipped" in it (I would not want to take the time to type the twenty numbers  from the tracking number away from anyone's life, God forbid).

So, this trader took the time from his busy life to browse the forums several times, but it was too much to ask of him to reply to my messages?    Really?

So, you think it is harder to deal with a person who ships his stuff promptly and quickly sends you tracking information than with someone who ignores you for more than four days?

Yes, I think it's harder to deal with the person who's essentially committed mail fraud rather than the person who shipped their items promptly and in good faith.

Did you miss the part where I mentioned that I also shipped in good faith? Was the postal service an accomplice since I explained the situation and they facilitated this mail fraud of yours?

You are funny, dude.

OP

You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. Send this guy his phones and be done with it, move on, let go, enjoy life. If you don't send, he has every right to leave neg feedback on you.

When you phrase it one-sided like that, of course not. But when you look at more aspects, like you essentially taking the outcome of the trade into your own hands and stopping shipment on something promised, and in phrasing communication like "I know you're online, are you going to keep ignoring me?" instead of "hey just wanted to check in on the shipment, I'm sure you must be busy", then yeah, I would say you're a bit harder to deal with.

Okay.

I completely agree with the OP on this one. You can't initiate a trade and then decide to ignore PMs for FOUR days. That's not fair. Some of you have this "all's well that ends well" mentality but because of an inconsiderate trader the OP is out cash.

Maybe there is no outlined "trading etiquette" but common sense and common courtesy would suggest that good communication is a MUST when trading gear sight unseen.

Yeah, I was so rude. Lol.
