M5 will be lil bit over budget. As for PX100, I found Koss Porta Pros better in terms of SQ to my ears IMO. Any recommendations for ear-buds or IEMs ?

In that case M5.

I have the same problem as the OP. As for now, I'm looking at Jays d-jays and Mylarone XB, both of which can be found under $100.
Is the M5 worth the price increase from 100 to 150 (the cheapest I've seen them)?
I know its a very subjective issue, considering that many would spend up to $1000 on a pair of quality IEMs in a heartbeat. But my budget would already be pretty pressed, since I'm buying a new player as well, so an extra $50-100 is a bit of a problem.
I am not an audiophile (yet), but i greatly appreciate quality sound. Considering that and the money issue mentioned above, are the M5s worth the extra money?

Among all iems I tried, I find that the Atrio M5 and the Etymotic ER4P are the only ones that are worth their price.

I started my journey into audiophilia last week and I think I got the two good basshead phones you can get (I got them both on the same week):

Creative EP630 - sounds good for $20. Been through EX51s and 2 Koss "plugs" (plugs and sparkplugs), this one by far knocks them out at the $30 price limit. You can get a good sounding bass (not muddy) and good vocals (assuming your mp3s were ripped properly and have a high bitrate). They're 20 @ bestbuy.ca and I think theyre a nice pair of backup phones.

ATH-A700 - $125US well spent. Gave me goosebumps listening to Alicia Keys live and Sade's "The best of". These phones help me define what "instrument separation" is and well rounded bass -to think it's only an "entry level - audiophile" cans.If you got a little more dough to spend I recommend these cans.

Man, don't say that around Beyer or indeed Atrio fans! You could lose a limb!

I didnt wanna get into those before I listened to some decent headphones...jumping into the DT770 might wreck my wallet in 1 year. I had thoughts of getting it for my first cans but I might need to take it a lil easy first before jumping in.

...don't worry, by the end of this year, I'll get one
