On the inexpensive side, as I mentioned earlier, a Matrix M-Stage from the classifieds is an excellent sonic match for the DT990. If one's budget is more constrained, a uDAC2 can be had for the cost of a modest dinner for two. It also matches very well with the DT990, albeit offering less detail and control than the M-Stage. On the higher end of the scale, I've found the Violectric V200 to sound like heaven with the Beyers. FWIW, I prefer all of the above to my OTL (tube) amp that's magic with the HD600.

I found a classified for matrix m with a dac, I'll see how that goes. If it doesn't go too well I'll just grab the A20 off of ncix. I wanted to make my journey a slow one  but it hasn't been working out too well for me. Not sure how A20 stacks against Violectric V200 though.
