Hello guys.

So I am planning to buy an ANC Headphone.
Currently I am in Japan, I saw this panasonic rp-hd600n that sold around 21000 jpy (+-185 usd) and of course there sony wh1000xm3 which i heard really good in term of features, sound and anc, but the sony is around 32000 jpy (+-280 usd).

So I want ask, is the sony worth 90 usd more than the Panasonic (in sound, anc, and feature)? or Should i go with the Panasonic?

i know that many think sony 1000x is the best anc around for now, but is the differences really massive and worth?

What do you guys think?

For Sony, this noise cancellation and LDAC are good selling points. LDAC will be useful if you are using a Android phone with Android 8.0 and above or a DAP with LDAC enabled. The transmission speed is the fastest among all the codec. The pressure optimizer is another useful feature of Sony's. It will optimize the pressure in the earcups according to the surrounding pressure and hence minimise the vacuum feeling. 90 USD difference - Definitely worth it

How about the build quality, did you have any experience with it?

HD600N also support LDAC. However the pressure optimizer seem a really good feature.

oh I do not know HD600N has LDAC as well. Then it is quite competitive. The build quality of Sony is definitely good and the accessories they give are quite premium. It come with a semi hard carrying case, an audio jack, a charging cable and airplane adapter.

Sony has their own DSEE HX but I don't know if it is any good in this headphone or just a gimmick.
I heard that XM2 have build quality issues like cracking, so I am kinda worried.

I think the cracking is MDR-1000X which is the first generation. They solved this issue in 1000XM2.

Hi @Exill,

As @yong_shun stated, there are no build quality issues with the M2 so you should be more than fine with the M3.
The M2 is my go to for when I do stuff around the house, etc

DSEE HX only works for gear which supports this Sony specific proprietry codec, so unless whatever device you're using has it, it makes no difference to sound quality whatsoever if it's on or not though it does use more headphone battery power.
On the other hand, LDAC is being supported by more devices & there is a difference though how big a difference is subjective & personal but there is one.
Also, there is very little overall drain on battery with this enabled.

Essentially, the simplified answer is both a specialised DAC chips used by Sony with a few other things built in like DSP, etc

I decide to buy 1000xm3 as it seems the best options in comfort as it is better than Panasonic when i tried it and should hold for some time.
although the Panasonic is quite cheap for just 18500 jpy (160 usd)
