I have a set of the DT770 pro '05 models (250ohm) and I do not think their bass is TOO overblown, in fact I find it rather pleasant and laugh all you want.. but speaker-like too.

Darth beyers have more bass than the dt770.

Ultrasone HFI-780. The bass is great both in quantity and quality. Also, mids and highs don't suffer from the bass, IMO.

If your friend is a dumb basshead what's the point in spending on something like the HFI-780 or Darth Beyers? Something cheap like the K81 will be a better idea.
