Hi. I recently bought a Nakamichi TA-2A speaker amp to power my Arya headphones. I understand Nelson Pass had something to do with the design of these specific amps and was interested to hear what it could do with a capable planar. The price was about right and reviews are typically rather glowing, albeit mainly with speakers.

My issue: I want to hook up a 1/4" TRS directly to the speaker terminals of the amp... Does anyone know if this is a huge no-no with this particular amp? I have no idea how to look at schematics and amp topologies and determine anything really. Will I fry my amp using the needed adapters? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a 4-pin XLR cable for my headphones?

Thank you so much for reading, hopefully someone knows something.

Do you have a multimeter with ohms functionality? If so, check continuity between the - speaker terminals. If 0 ohms (or <1 ohm), you should be good. If not, then the - terminals are not common and the 4 pin XLR would be prudent. I'd also ask this question somewhere like diyaudio, in the Pass forum.
