NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

i prefer open headphones. I think they have a better sound quality then closed ones.

Generally, yes you're right. But this NAD is different. The soundstaging and imaging is really excellent. This is another wow HP. For portable gear, the HE-400 and LCD-2.2 aren't at par with the NAD notwithstanding they're open backs.

Can someone just comfirm: when you rotate the earcups of hp50, the drivers face to our body.

I love the sound of hp50 but i can't find the sweat point of comfort on my head and it don't seal well. I made effort to make it comfortable like put some extra foam under earpads. I have struggled in mind for several days whether should i keep it.
Today I noticce that when i rotate earcups, except HP50, all my headphones have its earcups rotated face to the front.  So i wonder if i wear hp50 as other headphones what will happen. PERFECT COMFORT!!!perfect sealing . Now earpads distribute force very evenly through earpads. and because of this, the weight of headphone spread a lot through earcups and the top of head feel no more pain.

I wonder if i got a misfabricated one that the left and right side are swapped...

So when I wear mine correctly left and right, the pads rotate toward the body, as you say. This is the opposite of how they should be. The pads should rotate the other way so that when you take them off you can lay them flat on a table without turning them around. I also have to wear them backwards to get the most comfortable fit with the best seal. It's fine 95% of the time when sound field orientation doesn't matter, but sucks when I watch netflix or something like that on my iPad. It is a design flaw.

I have 2 pairs of cans that do this now and wonder why in the world companies don't find this out in R&D. It would take one person familiar with headphones to tell them things like this, or, hey, this headband is really ugly and kind of dysfunctional. Oh well.

well, i used them just the way, they are supposed to be used. Left on left, right on right. No problem.

Mine rotates towards me as well. I think the intention for this design is so that it confirms to the angle of the ears and sides of our face. Also, I find it better that way so that when I lay them down on the included pouch, I could wipe the cups and leather immediately.

I don't have any alpha pads, but the HM5 pads fit very well, but are not comfortable since the padding is too wide and not stiff enough so the plastic housing the drivers is pushed up against the ears. I put the stock pads back on.

As for the swivelling of the cups, to each his own I guess, but I would say the majority of portable cans I have swivel the other way and I prefer that since I very often take them off and put the straight down onto my desk or table. Regardless of whatever swivelling direction you prefer, they need to swivel more in the opposite direction to allow for better fit. Just some minor flaws for the best sounding closed cans I've had.

I think the direction of the swivel is more for SQ. The cups/drivers being susceptible to be angled towards you creates a better soundstage--sound coming from more in front. If it swivels the other way, the sound is susceptible to come from more behind.

Thanks for yours feedbacks.
It is definitively a design flaw.
I think that the earcups of over-ear headphone should rotate a little bit forward to fit the head. I know the head are different for different people, some people may be totally fine with the angle of hp50. But why NAD do not respect the general anatomy.

I don't think the small variation of angle could play a big role here.  I twisted the angle with my hand but nothing changed. When i wore it left on right, the soundstage do heard weird because sound felt like coming from behind. I then reversed the stereo channels of the source, everything came back to normal. The room feel technology give hp50 a beautiful 3d-like soundstage. They have done an effective psychoacoustic research.

I just ordered some cables to make a channel swapping cable. I hope it will work out well.

I ordered one 3,5mm jack to 2RCA, then one 2RCA to 3.5mm jack.

I'm sure you can find alternatives in your region.

No, the cups/drivers should be facing towards your face so that the sound would come from the front. Like Audezes and HD-800.

Also, isn't General anatomy the other way around (consistent with NAD design)?

Both audezes' and Hd800's driver have an angle to the plane of earpad, so the sound always come from the front. Then the rear side of earpads could go deeper to back of head than the front side.
In NAD's design, the drive's plane are parallel to that of earcup and earpad. In the case of hp50,  the front side tends to have more pressure on the face and small head people may easily have sealing problem on the rear side.
