Got bored and tierd of pulling the covers every time I wanted to try different tubes. My friend was going to help me with (he's a machinist) but has been to busy lately. I did a 20 minute Blow&Go job with a grinder and a can of undercoating paint. I hope this wont void my warranty!

I made do with the wrong tools(grinder got away from me a couple of times).

I just wish I could find some ZIF sockets for my tubes

I was thinking about glow in the dark props that would sit on the tubes and spin via convection.

Benny, I hope you do not have kids or small pets! if you do they could get hurt. Otherwise put some kind of screen if nothing else to prevent something from accidentally falling in and shorting out something.

One thing is for sure, it will run cooler now.

Nice work with the "hole". Great idea and I like the screen too...should look sweet when you get the perminent screen made. it looks like something I'd cook up.

I made a simple cover for my WA3 from perforated stainless steel sheet metal because I'm afraid my son or animals might cause an "accident"...in addition to that I keep my gear covered with a towel...I'm paranoid.

Now that's what I call I hole! You could make a nice removable perspex cover as that version of the X-CAN doesn't require venting. Nice job and easy access for tube rolling, well done

but is XcanV3 too simple to cost the amount MF charges?

So if something is in your way - you just punch a hole in it.

That's is so simple it's brilliant!

For the most part. I think they have a lot less mark up than some.

Parts= $30.
BV Volume= $15.
Case and fancy face plate= $45.

Dealer cost something like $250. So ballpark, there making $160. per unit.

I've seen some $400. amps that would cost me less than $40. for me to build.

When I say simple, I'm saying the X-CanV3 is a fantastic design in that its fully discrete and can use a very wide range of tubes without the use of any IC's.

A good example are the Russian 6n1p's that sound better than any 6dj8 type(IMO)tube but most other amps will burn up if you were to use them in place of a 6dj8/6922 type tube.
