by an amazing twist of fate, I am now the owner of the contents of the building below... the gent, my gracious benefactor, was once, a long time ago, a code breaker and communications specialist overseas...he also repaired army equipment as well as having a business on the side repairing audio/video appliances..anyway, when he ETS(got out) of the army, he had thousands of valves with him and brought them over , set up shop, and began a tv/radio repair service.

one night in 1987, he was working on a tv that he described as being "a real bitch".. well, at about 130 am, after working on the thing for 5 hours, he got very angry, turned off the lights to the shop, closed the doors, and never walked back in....well, this gent happened to be the brother of my great, great uncle... i met him about 2 years ago. at the time he was wanting badly to get rid of the stuff so he could convert the space into a woodshop... , well, after two years of talking about it, last week we came to the agreement that if I would clean out the shop(EVERYTHING), and give him 100 bucks, all would be mine... this is over 800 tubes(all kinds and makes, all new, not to mention about 1200 used!!) ..also 3 top notch military grade tube testers, 2 dual trace oscilloscopes, boxes and boxes of transformers, resistors, astatic stylus tips, etc..... started categorizing in July(when I loaded them all up..took me 3 whole days!!) hope to be finished by years end.

thanks, Erik and guys!

I plan on taking a good size chunk of them for myself and probably selling the rest. One of the guys on green day's road crew (he lives here in NC) has offered to help me categorize, test, and label them all(and put them in pairs/quads.

ive done the count at least, and total count is some 2, 350.

of course I will offer some for sale here, too. I am not looking to rape anyone with the prices, just pass on some of the good karma ive recieved.

and the labor...that was the big part of it.. i had to clean out the tubes, the oscilloscopes, etc..the fun stuff, but I also had to spend a long time getting the trash out..took me a very, very long time to finish that.

Stunning haul! Perhaps it's just the pictures, but from what I can see of the numbers, there aren't many audio types there. A couple of times I've had chances at similar (but much smaller hoards) and upon inspection somebody had already culled all the audio types.
In this case, even if that's true, you've still got a huge windfall! Congradulations!
