dude, What are you talking about with 'remixing'. Changing the volume levels using mp3gain has nothing to do with remixing. Don't you know what remixing is? BTW, Ipods are known for having lousy bass. The 6i is a perfectly fine iem. I have demoed with my Rio Karma and it sounds great.

mp3gain only changes a tag within the file. does nothing whatsoever to the sound (Except changes in volume).

Its not just for this headphone, but it helps remove clipping from files with any Player/Headphones.

What's more spectacular is your willingness to share your solution... much appreciated.

LOL, I don't see whats the big deal with the lack of bass on the ER6i. In my opinion it isn't a problem at all; on my zen touch I only add +3dB at 100hz and for me everything from soft rock to drum 'n' bass is jsut fine (and this is from someone who has been using Sony MDR-EX71/81s for over 2 years!).

When people say the ER6i lacks bass, they do not mean it lacks bass depth (like with most open earphones), they simply mean it lacks bass quantity. For example on the album "Fat of the Land" by Prodigy you can still hear the low frequency bass impact and resonance just like the EX71/81s, but unlike the EX71/81s the bass isn't bloated and hence the basslines don't become the primary focus of the music.

IMHO what the ER6i lacks in bass impact, it more than makes up for in terms of "midrange impact" (not sure if this is an actual term!). Drums, guitars, vocals and probably 80% of what makes up the music just has this incredible presence and impact that cheaper canalphones just can't provide. Listening to the ER6i for a few days and returning to the EX81s was shocking to say the least.

My only problem with the ER6i is the lack of treble extension, the ER6i seem to lack the treble quantity and clarity of say the D66 eggos. But thats probably just my taste music! I reckon the Shure E4c is the next step forward.
