My indecision baffles me.

And now, once again, I impulsively bought the Audio-Technica ATH-M50's.

This is getting expensive...

LurkerJeff, I will suggest you to buy the best headphones out there.
Like for example, Sennheiser HD650 or AKG K701.
Please include the best headphone for money like Grado SR60, too.

Don't try all the different models of headphones.
Read headphone reviews, select stores, buy and be happy like me.
I'm very happy already with my Grado SR60.

Also, please buy only the headphone that you need not what you want.

I also suggest auditioning as much as you can, so you will know each brand's distinct sound signatures. If you do manage to find a suitable one, narrow your choices to what you feel as the bang-for-buck solution to your needs.

True, though I hardly consider myself an audiophile. I'm more of a perfectionist. Either that or I have a slight case of OCD lol.

And thanks man, I appreciate your concern.

I wonder why Patrick82 comes to mind...

You haven't by chance had any thoughts about "finding the truth" also?

Let's not go down that road.

Well I'm just starting to venture into this huge world I didn't even know existed, so, as of now, I was only looking for headphones that sound great straight out of a PMP.

No ma'am, I'm no emo, far from it lol.

I'm actually gonna get rid of the Avatar, I was looking for Spike Speigel from Cowboy Bebop with a pair of cans on (from the movie) but couldn't find it.

Like I said before, I never blindly go into anything without looking into it.
And if I could buy the best headphones out there, trust me, I would.
