I have both. I use EQ to help make the 325's sound "normal" to me.
A few years ago, when the 325's were the best HPs I owned, very little EQ was needed. They sounded right*.
As I got used to the HD800 sound - and other HPs along the way - the 325 began sounding a bit mid-range heavy. Easily fixed.
*I don't know how audiophiles can live without EQ. Hhearing perception is constantly changing. Without EQ you end up chasing a perceived standard of quality that moves almost every day. That must be frustrating.
