In case anyone is interested, I finally posted some pictures of my MINT in the picture forum:

Now, my question: Does anyone have any suggestions for mounting the LED?

Just sticking it out of a hole in the tin works ok, but I'd like some ideas for nicer-looking mounts.

I've been using round-dome Fresnel lens mounts. Just search for "fresnel" at the parts distributors.

If you put it into the lid of a mint tin like in the pictures on my site, you will end up friction-fitting it into the tin, and then epoxying the LED into the mount because there is no room to allow it to mount normally. Study that second-to-last picture on the step-by-step page carefully.

Ratshack has a few here.

I've used the plastic ones on the right (that is actually a package of 5, not 1). One thing that you can do with these if you don't like the looks of putting them in from the outside of the case is to glue one inside the case. If your drill hole is nice and round, the LED looks like it is just stuck in the case.

Heat-shrink tubing can be used as well. I usually put it on the base of the LED and glue-stick glue it at the hole.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

The Fresnel lens mounts and chrome mounts look very nice, although the chrome ones may be a bit easier to use... I'll have to give them a try.

Yes, these are headphone amps. Just curious... what did you think they were?

someone before gave a heads up that led holders are sold quite cheap on ebay. like $10usd shipped for 10 of the chrome ones. search for "led holder"
