I'll let the pics do the talking.. but i basically exposed the contacts for the connectors using a 1.4mm engraving bit and a dremmel - soldered the mogami 2893 cable to the pins and then filled with two layers of expoxy resin. I then heathsrinked the wires from the y split to the connectors and then used two layers of adhesive lined heatshrink to give the connectors some strength. The y split is from qables, this was also filled with expoy for strength.
The difference is like night and day! compared to the cheap extension lead and default cable I was using.
What would I do different?
More acurate soldering iron.
Use a heat gun for heatshrinking
Not burn a big hole in my thumb soldering after a night shift.
Use cotton to go from y-split to cans instead of heatshrink.
