In the spirit of LTUCCI's recent gesture of kindness, I've decided to keep that same spirit alive.

Though I may not be a prolific poster, I am very appreciative of the members at head-fi who have nurtured my journey. There have been so many times on head-fi when people have gone beyond what anyone would have had a right to expect, who gave selflessly of their time, who trusted me in innumerable transactions that have gone flawlessly. It just seemed fitting for me to do something tangible to repay, perhaps symbolically, those acts of kindness. To that end, I would like to donate a mint Musical Fidelity X-DAC v3 to some deserving head-fi'er.

I first thought of a puzzle, or a contest. And then, yesterday, a thread appeared in this forum about academic honesty. Frankly, I could not believe how cavalierly some head-fi'ers treated what I believed to be an important issue of honesty. And that gave me an idea.

I am looking for someone who, in his/her time on head-fi, has exhibited the highest ideals of integrity and ethical behavior and who would genuinely profit from the the MF DAC. Here are the rules.

1. You may not nominate yourself; rather, someone must nominate you.

2. As just indicated, I am looking for nominees who have exhibited exemplary honesty/integrity/trustworthiness in matters relating to their membership on head-fi. The more demonstrable/provable those traits are in your nominee, the more credibility the story will have, and the greater the nominee's chances for success. For example, assume that you nominate a head-fi'er who has pre-existing feedback in the feedback forum indicating that he/she is a person of great integrity (along with the reasons why), that would be a compelling submission. (Instances of a head-fi'er acting with integrity might also come up in other sections of head-fi as well). Conversely, a story that is difficult to verify would be a weaker nomination.

3. If that same person seemed also to have only a modest stash of head-fi gear, the nomination would be even stronger.

4. Entries will be taken from now until Sunday night at 11:59 p.m. CST. I reserve the right to cut it off early or extend it depending upon the quantity/quality of submissions.

5. Please post (v. pm) all nominations, indicating why you think the nominee is worthy.

6. My decision is final.

7. I will pay for all shipping charges.

Let the nominations begin!

Congrats on the 1000 posts!

I would like to nominate Skyline889.

For someone his age, he is very professional, helpful and extremely nice. I had a friend purchase something from him once, and he shipped it ultra fast, and even included a postcard with a very nice message in the package. This guy is all over the forums, helping people where he can.

A very nice and honest guy, and even if he doesn't win, I think he diserves some recognition.

let me just take a moment to thank bahamaman. he is truely a great head-fier and a gentleman.

my opponents in this great dac contest would have you believe i don't care about you, the average head-fier. this couldn't be farther from the truth. each and every one of you are what make this website great. your willingness to share, your willingness to help newbies, and even warn of the perils to their wallets is exemplary.

but beyond that, if you vote for me i promise to continue to uphold my position as jude's court jester with pride, and continue to crack you, consistantly and proactively, up.

now i've never owned any of those high-falootin "dacs" before, and in fact my humble beginnings as a son of prep school teachers in connecticut showed me a world of luxury so close, and yet so far. but then i found head-fi, and i knew i could get $10,000 worth of speaker performance out of $1,000 worth of headphone gear. and my friends, i have tried to spread the word, here and in real life.

i pledge to you, my faithful readers and companions in this sometimes strange trek though audiophiledom, that if you nominate me to recieve this most generous of gifts, that i will do my best to continue your cause, and promote the growth of head-fi today and into the future.

Congratulations on your 1000th. My 1000th passed with no one noticing, including me.

Here’s hoping that a worthy person wins. I do hope that the prize goes to someone who will appreciate it, and that actually needs a nice D/A.

I nominate … Hmmmm

I nominate Kitaoji, (aka Jocelyn)
1. she's let all of us east bay headfiers barrow her gear whenever we needed/wanted to (seriously, she let Yellafella321 barrow her amp for weeks, and i'm currently holding her glite for a review, before she let me review the HD595 for months-without complaining!).
2. needs a dac badly
3. has a very strong feedback and sales record
4. a student and music lover
5. always provides excellent feedback on whatever equipment she has tried.

This is the kind of nomination I like - plenty of specific information.

I nominate Jahn. He's undeniably the nicest the person I've ever seen on an internet forum. He seems to always be cool, nonchalant, and have his temper under control at all times. I don't think I've ever received a flamatory post from Jahn and I know he's posted in several of my threads before...

. I don't know about everybody else, but to me Jahn is kind of like that fun uncle that everybody loves. He just wants to show everybody a good time and puts his heart into everything. His posts are often funny and comical and just show what a great person he is. If I had to trust one person on Head-Fi with my life it'd be Jahn. Every post of his sort of revitalizes my spirits and it goes without saying that he has impeccable feedback.

I realize that Jahn already has a pretty sweet rig that's not exactly modest. However, he was the first and only person that came to mind when you mentioned the words honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness.

Congrats on the 1KPostK bahamaman. Youve earned it.

As another head fi-fier who had a gear giveaway I know the prerequisates ou might want in contestants. I would to that end like to nominate three people.

1)Patrick.

Patrick has done more to service the difference between placebo and tr tweek effect than anyone else in the history of head-fi. He has neve let the disbelief or the scorn of his fellows on this website stand in the way of his full and honest documentation of what he percieves to be tru effects of real and high degree meticulation of his system. H ehas never bowed to peer pressure nor has he ever gone with convention for conventions sake. He is, however completely insane we might consider hiom to be, an honest chap through and through.

2)Hembergler.

Hemburgler is a credit to the junior head-fi brigade. He has, despite the chronological and sociological confines of his age and his financial position, developed a rig of admirable and mutaure quality and has shared his views on both its sound and the curiousity of the sound of others with nothgin but frank faced good natured and with a maturity which far exceeds his years. He deserves more Kudos than he has had from us, and I deeply look forward to his future endevours in his hobby. He is a credit to the junior head-fiers and the seniors too.

3)Carl

Carl is a tantalus well of knowledge on electrostatic headphones, their history, their technological merit and on the rare and elusive models which few seem to have the patience and the dedication to take the time for. Carl is unscewed un his praise or condemnation of the various historic models and current models. He can give an unbiased and articulate comparison of an early and a modern day model lambda chassis model Stax and with a sense that he would happily fall in love with both, despite their individual shortcomigns, which he will not be soft about and try to disguise. He puts up with a torrent of PMs askign for his advice on a variety of matters about his specialist subject and deserves credit for his patience in dealign with these.

I nominate elnero

* he was laid off
* he has had to sell off his gear and downgrade to a minimal setup
* his DAC situation never worked out and has been very painful (as can be seen in a certain thread in the Source forum)
* he has been a valuable member here as long as I've been around and has always been a great buyer & seller.

oh, and his 2nd child was born recently, and this man could really use some tunes

thanks for your kind gesture bahamaman, and good luck to the nominees
