and there's mention of MD-30 both in the driver inf files and http://translate.google.com.au/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-CN&u=http://www.soomal.com/doc/10100001429.htm&ei=eq5WTPm8KMPQcdGh9b8M&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CC0Q7gEwAg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmusiland%2Bmd30%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dopera%26hs%3D12t%26rls%3Den%26prmd%3Ddf

Allegedly it will cost US$600

Doesn't look like the feature is already included in the unit control panel... or it's non-customizable.

Kinda obvious, since it's a custom driver like they make for Musiland US 02. Otherwise they would be very unlikely to get 192khz/24b. Hence, no linux or mac drivers yet or maybe ever. (you could email and ask, who knows, maybe they plan to make them?)

Nice link though. Thanks for that. Nice review/comparison to MD10.

I received my unit today. It took only 4 days to deliver to Aus via EMS.

The volume control is a digital one (you can spin it right or left, there are distinct dials but no min or max. Click to mute, or skip to the next option in the menu).
Sound volume can be set via the Musiland windows UI panel and/or using the vol control on the unit. The unit has a display with controllable backlight brightness, color/contrast settings.

The volume controller also functions as a menu navigation tool. Through the menu you can change what the input is (usb, optical, rca, bnc, musilnk). You can also switch the headphone and or line outs on/off. You don't seem to need to reboot the unit to change inputs or outputs.

The unit came with a power cable (2x - 1 australia, 1 eu...Not really GB like the review suggests), a usb cable, a ...musilink cable (not that I know what to with it. seems to be for musiland to musiland connections) and a driver cd (they forgot to close the cd session btw, not a big deal, but rather amusing).

The driver CD autorun is in english, so is the driver (well, or you could select chinese). The manual and quick start guide are in chinese, but everything is pretty self-explanatory. The only thing I don't understand is a menu setting 'MMDI Locked On/Off'. That really escapes me.

Here are some UI shots

p.s. the headphone amp is fairly decent. Much better than US 02. Probably better than the Aune.

So far it can drive both my D5000 and SM3 or SM3+200Ohm adapter without any problems. With the impedance adapter, the volume at 50% is already very loud even for classical music (louder than what normally cliped my SRM-252a + sr-202).
The line out sounds is neutral and I have no complaints about either the line out of the amp.
For a better description, read the review in the link above posted by imyself. The google translation is surprisingly legible (until he gets to describing the sound) and the review has RMAA results.

The AUTO sampling rate for some reason only appears on XP.  If you are able to go in the Musiland folder in Windows you should be able to put on HDCD decoding.

Anyway I would be interested to hear more about this.  I'm using the 02 US and so far owing this for about one year it is doing its job just fine.

Yea, same with this one for the SR, what meant I is -it doesn't keep the setting you set in the control panel after you reboot or restart the unit (Musiland 02 did).

Otherwise, the DAC is at least as good as Musiland 02 US. The headphone amp uses the same opamp (although it's high slew rate, low noise (depending on the v-swing), despite being a dual one), but the circuit design is a lot better, hence the amp section is a lot nicer and drives higher impedance headphones better.
On the other hand, they will release MD30, with XLR and 1 low imp 1 high impedance 1/4 jacks... Maybe worth waiting for that one.

Thanks.

DAC chip is Analog Device's AD1853 (same DAC chip in Benchmark DAC-1).

There's an opamp: OP275.
