My WA5-LE can use the ECC32 in the driver positions instead of a 6SN7. I have seen that the Mullard ECC32 are very looked after and expensive.
Does anybody have expereince with these tubes?
What is their sound signature and presentation?
Are they worth the money?

Thanks.

I think the Mullard ECC32 is an absolutely outstanding sounding tube. I like it better than any 6SN7. It draws 50% more heater current than a 6SN7, but for amps that can use them, they sound awesome IMO. I use them in my RSA Stealth.

Unfortunately they have gotten very expensive.

Thanks Rob. I checked with Jack and my WA5_LE can use them with no problems. Do you have any contacts to get a pair?

I found brand new NOS matched pair Mullards in England (I think 3 pair available). Approx $400 each, but ya gotta buy the pair. Not for the faint of wallet indeed! I'm mulling over (pun intended) grabbing one of the pairs while they are still available. These are the only NOS ones Ive seen.

Well then I better stop screwing around and grab a pair.

I waited too long on a nice pair of Sylvania 6SN7W metal base recently, so now I pull the trigger first (not always a good thing$$$$).
Actually I did get a great pair of the metal base, I just want anothe pair for backup, and missed an opportunity.

SD, are you using these in a WA22 or other? I ask because I'm thinking of pairing the Mullards with some GEC 6080 power tubes that until now, I thought were lacking in power with my HD800. My thought is that with the higher gain of the Mullard, the GEC 6080 might be just right.

Well SD, as you know, I bought a pair from him. They arrived yesterday. Perfect condition just as pictured.
I'ts hard to describe in words how I feel about these tubes. I already have collected other top NOS 6SN7s and I feel that these are absolutely top notch.
At present, I have them combined with a NOS Mullard GZ37 and a pair of TS5998.
I doubt that this WA22 could sound much better.
Thanks for pointing me to these absolutely wonderful tubes.
