my first mp3 player was I think the very first dap to ever be released, it was made by Eiger Labs, and was called the MPman f20. it had either 32 or 64 megs of mem (rufly enough space to fit 4 low bitrate mp3 albums) and was about the size of an ipod but thinner.

My first player was the iPod mini blue 4gb!

How times have changed since then!

Got my first mp3 player in early 1999, JazPiper, which is a rebranded MPIO SV player, the third commercially available mp3 player on the world launched in late 1998, few months after Diamond Rio PMP300. Unfortunately not many people knew about it at the time (especially in U.S.) because it was mainly sold in S. Korea and S.E. Asia, therefore it wasn't even included in the list on the original post..

I had a Rio 600 64 Mb player back in the late 90's. Wow, times have changed, lol.

a really old Rio mp3 player that had 64mb internal memory and could handle 128mb external card (I think it was SD)

after that broke, got a Rio Carbon, got hit by a car and it broke
got an ipod nano 1st gen (which was at the time revolutionary) then it disappeared while on a trip

now I'm mp3 player-less

My first MP3 player was an LG that I got as a Christmas present from work. It took two MMC cards (64 MB max) and used two AAA batteries for about 3-4 hours' playing time. It's probably sitting in a bin somewhere at home...
