IIRC, the Sony MDR-7506/V6 has a pretty strong midbass hump in their FR curve, as well as some other abnormalities. Besides, they sound like garbage.

The Orpheus has probably the flattest curve on the Headroom site, along with the Beyerdynamic DT 660(which also happens to be a very clean and revealing headphone).

Another vote for the 701, because I have a very hard time describing its "sound" so it must not have one. And I don't think they're bass shy, btw.

The Stax SR-007 get my vote.
Of all the headphones I have heard these are the most neutral.

If by neutral you mean that the phones sound exactly like the source upon hearing both the live source & the unequallized sound of the phone then the ER4P/S are quite accurate. The S version is highly accurate. There is also a B version that they say is more accurate but given the live recording experience with the others I find them so close tonaly to the live source as to be practically indistinguishable. Only distinguishing characteristic was the imaging & that was due to how the mike pick up directional cues as opposed to the open ear.

right now I think the most "pure" and "neutral" can out there is the Sony Qualia. But people could make a case for the OII, HE90 and K1000.

What are the most neutral cans that you guys own. What is regarded as the "most neutral" out there now?

By neutral, i mean the cans themselves dont favor bass/mids/highs...they are all balanced and blend with each other.

Right now, i feel my iGrados lean more towards the bass side of music, while the k501's are probably the most "neutral" thing i have, with a slight emphasis on the middle/high end of things, but not much

For me the Sennheiser HD650 easily responds to your request.

Beware: I take care to protect the integrity of my hearing, so I might also be a minority in the world as we know it

Thats what I know on that list, k701 is also fairly neutral outside of its bass roll-off. Whoever said hd650 is neutral - jeez, can't you hear the treble roll-off? If anything, hd600 is far more neutral (apart from the Senn veil, but its not a big issue with hd600).

The only thing that the HD600 does better than the HD650 is the peaking of lower treble (a wee bit Grado reminiscent).

What "treble roll-off"? I hear none really, absolutely. More treble would only hurt my ears especially in the longer run.

I agree with Moloko re: the HD650.

Not with the right amp (and a proper source of course), and I'm not saying expensive... e.g. certainly not with my Xenos 1HA-EPC. The bass is just excellent. It might be just me, either

But please notice that I'm an acoustic music lover (variously flavored with blues/jazz/rock).

AKG 701 (compared to all my Grado's, Senn 600, Beyer 770 & 880)
It is not the most fun however.
