I put myself in "male other" assuming that those in long-term relationships certainly aren't single, but they definitely aren't married either (unless it's several years and starting to flirt with the local common-law marriage laws).

That is why I put in an "other" category.
I wanted to leave the option for people to self-identify in any way they want.
For example, if you have a long-term partnership that the state doesn't allow you to call a marriage, then feel free to put Married, Single, or Other depending on what you believe yourself to be.

I think that is where the "Other" fits in.
Long Term Relationships
Domestic Partnerships
Civil Unions
Living Together out of Wedlock
Divorced
etc

At least that's how I interprited it for my vote.

Yea, I'm not married, but if I said I was single I would probably be beaten to death. So I put other

Male, long term relationship. Far too poor for marriage...I spend enough on her already.
