While Focal Clear OG is a felicitous match to Liquid Platinum (in my estimation), here is one not to chortle at, not to scoff at … but to be amazed by …

Audeze LCD-4! With an impedance of 200 ohms, a sensitivity of 104 dB/V (compared to 120 dB/V for Audeze LCD-X), it requires some amplification heft. LP is up to the task! Plus, the volume knob gets to “two o’clock”! Pretty much wide open! Sound to die for (not from!).

I get to about 1:00 on the volume with the HD-580. The M1570 only does 10:30.

Man, you guys are really making me feel better about being single in my 30s.

I think it’s in the best interest for my audio to remain this way. :o2smile:
I would pick my wife over my gear any day. Fortunately she’s never made me make that choice. Probably helps that she spends 10x more on her dogs than I spend on gear!

Dogs are great companions. Have not had a dog in the house for decades but grew up with a few who were really wonderful members of our Family..

Not to single out this post (it's just representative of a bunch here), but is I Love Lucy still in production? To be clear, Lucy was (and is) an absolutely great show--I've been watching it for more than 60 years--and it pretty much invented the three camera sitcom, but I thought its view of marriage was more than a trifle dated, even in 1953. I guess not.

Hi folks. My first post on this thread but I have a LP and it’s God’s gift to headphone Hifi IMO. Running an Earmen Tradutto DAC into it, matches well! Using my Hifiman HEK Stealth cans and couldn’t be happier with the sound!

Welcome! The LP is a great headphone amplifier. I use it with planars and dynamics and it works very well with both.
Glad that you're enjoying your system. Getting you closer to the music is what it's all about. 😊

The Sennheiser HD600’s and 6XX’s also sing well on it!
My friend has some high end Schiit equipment so we had a great demo matching the LP with his Gumby.

The HD600 and HD6XX scale like crazy with better audio gear. They remain one of the truly great bargains
in this hobby.. Speaking of Schiit, the company just came out with its latest Mjolnir 3 headphone amp. Pure class A bias with the ability
to run single ended or push pull... Looking forward to seeing some listening impressions on it. 👍

electro harmonic 12au7 with Pulse Tube Store adapters. Only have about an hour on these but sounding fantastic. Amp is running cool with the adapters in. But wondering why i need adapters if 12au7 has same pin config as 6922eh that came with the amp

Like audio gear, the topic is subjective. lol Another old timer here who still enjoys I Love Lucy and a host of other TV series from the
1950's through the 1990's. The good old days when life was still relatively simple. 😊

I noticed those tubes stick way out compared to the stock tubes. Is that due to the adapter you mentioned adding the spacing? Looks cool though!

The adapters are needed to ‘adjust’ the 12AU7 tube effective voltage from 12.6 to 6.3. Also, the heater current has to be ‘adjusted’ from 150 mA (milliamperes) to 300 mA (milliamperes). The second value of each parameter is that of a 6922 tube.

Not only does that look cool, it helps Liquid Platinum to run cool since tube heat is dissipated more efficiently. I augment this result by putting Liquid Platinum on taller rubber feet plus aftermarket feet.
