Hi All,

I have a pair of 225i that will soon be in a pair of wooden cups. I thought now might be a good time to try and improve the cable on them as well. I love the sound, and trust the innards of it, but it is extremely clumsy.

I was wondering if anyone out there had stripped the heavy plastic coating off a Grado cable from one of the higher models on the Grado SR line (I know the cable on the SR80i and SR60i is thinner and lighter already) and replaced it with lighter sleeving before? Would this help?

It goes without saying, a re-termination to a 1/8th plug is on the cards too.

I suppose that it's possible, but it's probably less work to just make a new cable.
And as an added bonus you can sell the old cable to cover the costs of the new one.

Hmmm...I guess. Just don't want to risk buggering up what I really like at the moment...I like what's inside the box, I just hate the box :D....

LMAO...if I pull off a decent mod replacing the plastic sleeving with nylon, it would be fun to do some blind tests...
