You might give these two KCRW DJ's a try. KCRW is LA's public radio station.

More music on KCRW to explore...

https://www.kcrw.com/shows (select the "music" option from the list of filters near the top)

Playlist of most recent programs. Press "Load More" repeatedly to see more older listings. Or select a playlist from a specific DJ with the "DJ/Shows" pulldown menu.

There may be other good DJ's on the station as well. But I mostly listen at night when Garth and Travis are on.

Jungle and The Internet also do funk tunes. Dunno if that's the type of thing you're lookin for though, as you seem to be more into the instrumental stuff.

Scary Pockets is an amazing group that does mostly covers of pop hits, but their composition is so good, their execution so clean, that they've quite literally made songs their own. Every Breath You Take, We are the Champions, Sweet Child o' Mine, etc. They also rotate among some amazing vocalists.

Somethin new & funky from Ms. BoA. This is apparently a Korean cover of Awa's "Like I Do", previously posted above, with a few small changes here and there. Esp. the amazing breakdown at ~2:15.
