Hi,
I just received my OK3s this week and while they are beginning to sound fantastic with burn-in, the microphonics are almost incomprehensibly bad. I understand that the OK series cable is substantially improved over the PK series, but I doubt the microphonics were worse with the PK series. There is just no way. It sounds kind of like sailboat rigging, it has that type of twang whenever the cable is brushed or moved, and it is loud.
I ordered these along with IE8s (no detectable microphonics for me), primarily to run with to replace some sennheiser PMX-70s (which have medium level microphonics but don't sound nearly as good to begin with). I have found some way around it, if I wear the cable completely behind me and turn the volume ever so slightly higher than I would like, but it is far from an ideal solution.
I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on mimimizing microphonics. I know clipping/taping the cable down will work and have tried that, but for impromptu use, I would like something a bit more permanent. Can I wrap the cable in electrical tape or maybe some insulative sleeving or anything?
