Brass plugs have cheap copper cores and there are a lot of MIC brass plugs, including those knockoffs but the MIJ ones just happen to sound better from my experience.

What are some decent sub $50 "lightweight/thin" IEM cables? I just got some NICE HCKs 8-strands which feel good quality but they are actually quite heavy and drag my IEMs down a bit. I'm constantly having to lift the cable up to relieve some of the tension.

I actually really like the stock cables that came with my Campfire Audio Mammoths and I like the cable with my DUNU Titan S IEMs.

Any obvious suggestions?

Try the NiceHCK SupeBlue cable.
It's not very talked about but I have two, one in my Timeless OG and the other one is now in my Penon FAN2 and they are amazing.
