The LTA MZ3 came with the LPS. I do not think that the MZ3 with an IEC socket vs an ‘umbilical cord’ socket exists 🤔.

OK, that makes sense. For a second there I thought your MZ3 arrived with a stock PSU and then it got its linear upgrade, hence the original question. All good though, thanks!

The power supply unit / LPS, I believe, was upgraded in general by LTA shortly after the introduction of MZ3.

Now I see that LTA MZ3's power inlet is a 4-pin XLR, so it's understandable that this product sells with a separate PSU designed for it. Makes sense!

Stradivarius? sometimes; ‘stratospherius’? always.

If I may ask, how expensive were these? I saw them for $200 or so :)
The Raytheon 6SN7WGT were $150/pr. The RFT ECC81 were $35/pr: a veritable bargain of which I took full advantage. The ‘foil getters’ are the preferable version.

Not crazy expensive then, but now we probably will see some price increase for tubes all across the board. Either way, you got yours before that. :wink:

Enjoy and thanks!

I have an Audio Magic fuse in the MZ3 and I like the change. Not tried it in the PSU. Le'us know whether fuse change in PSU is worth it.

@viggen (and other MZ3 owners):

• ABSOLUTELY upgrade the fuse in the linear power supply besides that in the amplifier itself !! The LPS fuse may in fact have a greater sonic effect than the amplifier fuse.

• I will forgo checking off the audiophile ‘sonic list’. With the LPS (and amplifier) fuse upgrade, transitions from pianissimo to fortissimo and vice versa (in classical, jazz, R&B, rock) transport me with their energy and scale!

• Fuse: Synergistic Research Purple. No opinion offered on other fuses.

Would you say that the difference upon replacing the stock fuse with that SR's product was easily audible? Or not really?

Definitely audible. Not just with LTA MZ3 but with my other h/p/a. Interestingly, the most noticeable improvements, to me, were in those h/p/a with rectifier tubes: Woo WA2, WA6, WA6SE.
