Loved the subbass addition to it. thank you for sharing it
Nice. I also run my 109s with this sub-bass boost (usually +3 db, but +5 db this past week). Sound much fuller and impactful than stock. Enjoy!

99s classics with small pads are bassy but in the right way. I prefer to reduce the amount of bass by adjusting the fit, wearing a sportive hat and/or glasses. The sound quality improves a lot (IMHO). For indoor listening, I prefer the 109s anytime, but the 99s are very good for closed-backs at this price point.

I'll give you my opinion: If you like the 109 Pro, stick with it and forget about the Elite unless you have another 3-4 grand sitting around gathering dust. I sold my Elites after buying the 109 Pro, that's how special it is.

I understand your hopefulness in thinking that since they are both Meze products, and the Elites cost so much more, that they must be "better". And in some ways they are, but honestly the dynamics, tonality, texture, bass response, and clarity are ALL better with the 109 Pro. Technicalities, detail quantity, and soundstage are really the only areas where the Elites shine, by comparison. Again, this is only my opinion after owning both.

Frankly, after owning several multi-kilobuck headphones and IEMs, I find myself more than satisfied with many various alternatives below the $1k mark. The 109 Pro is right near the top. It's just so engaging and alluring to listen to. Vocals are super clear and forward. I haven't missed my Elites for a single second since owning the 109 Pros.
I rock Meze 109 Pro, Shure SRH1540, and Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7B headphones balanced. I am extraordinarily satisfied.

After some advice regarding pairing the 109's, was after an amp to go with the Hiby R6 pro 2 and 109's.
Struggling to find an amp as it seems there are more choices out there when it comes to Dac + Amp, any suggestions what you people are using with the 109's when it comes to a Dac & Amp, my budget is around the £600 uk pounds, thanks.

It is not clear why your Hiby DAP is not satisfactory with your 109Pros? My FiiO M11Pro DAP drives them very well with the Meze 4.4mm balanced cable.

Good point, the Hiby does drive them well however after after using the Oratory 1990 EQ settings have lost a bit of volume, probably around 10/15 % but the sound is much better.
Also tried a Zen can signature a few days ago and everything sounded better especially on the bass side, the only problem was I was getting a static sound whenever I touched the Zen's volume which was something I could not cope with. So now I am aware that for a bit more expense I can improve things, so no going back for me unfortunately.

Funnily enough I have been looking at the AKM version with great interest as originally wanted just an amp with no seperate dac and nearly pulled the trigger a couple of times however thought I would do some more research. Also can be bought from Amazon and returned if I am not satisfied.

can't believe it has been a year with the 109 pro now
still love them today, and i have not been thinking about a new headphone so far
but maybe a replacement for my k7 but i am worried it might not be worth it.

the tonality and comfort is just perfect to me
