Meze Audio 109 Pro

lol. I have several Ebay and AliExpress cables , it's addictive to start searching cheap cables.
I have, however, finally bit the bullet and ordered a Norne hybrid silver+copper fusion cable. It will fit my 109 Pros and my HE1000s.
I think that may end my cable obsession so I also may have a few cables up for sale, soon. I have braided pure silver 8-core and a 16-core occ copper , both of which sound great depending on genre. Usually the 109 Pros benefit from the copepr cable, but, there are a few genres where i prefer the pure silver; hence me ordering the fusion hybrid hoping for a great cable all-arounder.

It gets tiresome switching out the cables, lol. Always wondering if pure silver or pure copper will be better for every song. I be goin mad lol./

I dropped my Meze 109 Pro (80 cm drop). One cup has two dents and some "wood" chipping.

It appears that the cups are not made of solid wood, but wood pulp. Helps keep the weight down, but makes them very fragile 👎

Need to contact Meze about replacement

Shame would really upset me, even a scratch would annoy me let alone that. Hope you get it sorted.

Kinda disappointing they're not solid wood.

it says "black walnut' in Meze's description. Saying that the wood looks somewhat different to that in the 99 Classic.

Yeah, the way the wood is talked about in their marketing would be quite misleading if it turns out Meze actually just used MDF. I get that it's lighter, easier to shape and holds fine-threaded screws better but still...
@marekm Could you maybe post a photo of how your chip damage looks?

I patched it up with sandpaper and some sort of "wax" used to do minor repairs in, among others, musical instruments, so now it is just a small dent.

Nevertheless, an 80 cm drop would not, IMHO cause a dent in a solid wood cup, like it did.

maybe thats the reason they managed to make them for under 1K? that made me worry about how long they will last.
seems like the 660s 2 is more of an endgame for me then.
Endgame? You just getting started, Man.

my personal endgame. i am not willing spending above 1500 for a headphone right now (for a 10-15% improvement overall)
but in 10 years? maybe?
my first purchase will be a nicer amp anyway before i get a higher end headphone

Im razzing you. It's all part of the journey. I was not long ago right where you are- 109 Pro / 650. Hell, even went from K5 to K9 Pro ESS (lovely). Then I leveled-up to HE1000 Stealth. I'd say if that's only 10-15% it FEELS like more. It's great.
I do recommend hanging out for a bit on each step of the way, though. This hobby has been known to cause madness.

Hello,

We assure you that we use CNC-ed real walnut wood. No wood pulp or MDF is used in the manufacturing process.
You can see in the pictures below (yes, we destroyed a cup for the sake of this thread, haha ) the wood fibre inside, and also, the wood grain seen on the ear cups indicate that they are made of real wood.

If you need any help with replacing your cup, please contact our customer care, at support@mezeaudio.com.
Hope this info helps!
