Been using my brand new 109's and I have creaking/popping mostly on the right side where the ball joint connects to the earcup whenever I nod/move my head. Anyone else have had this issue? It is safe to try some wd-40 or should I just return? Don't think it's normal because it happens mostly on the right side.

It's not normal.
I'd just send them in to let them fix the issue

I’m so glad you finally managed to get those back on. That sounded like a nightmare.

You make me want to order a K7 to compare to my Zen DAC V2. I really shouldn’t though..

my mezes literly sounded trash on my k5 (maybe i got a broken k5?) the k7 was a night day different. made me almost cry about how good the mezes actually sound.

and yes putting on the pads again was a nightmare. but the funny thing is i took a beer, while i mounted the pads again, which seemed to do the trick.

just a little example - on my k5 the track Call me manana by scooter (yes i am a huge fan) had odd distortion in the track which is now gone

Coming from Aeolus or Sennheiser 6 Series what can I expect from a Meze headphone such as the 109 Pro?

more brightness than the Aeolus and more bass than the 6 series. Of course I'm oversimplifying

The 109 Pro has a wider sound stage either, the 660S or 650, which are the Sennheiser 6 series that I've heard.

I find this incredibly enjoyable with any kind of recording with either natural room or simulated reverb/room. Gaming, too.

Also, the ear cups are much deeper on the 109 Pro, and they don't impinge on my jaw how the Sennheiser 6 series does, though that's probably not an issue for everyone.

Top end seems to be more forward on the 109 Pro, too.

I have never heard the Aeolus.

Did not have this issue, but a small drop of olive oil - poored with a seringe or with a coton applicator (natural oil , thicker oil than wd-40 that i don't recommand) will probably solve your issue easy.
I've used this solution for creaking doors hinge, stuck drawers, etc. Just make sure to wipe all excess clean.

It's more than that I think the right earcup is loose because the earpad can touch the inner metal golden part of the headphone while the left side can't do that. I'm just going to return them.
