What do you suggest?
That you ditch the "cold" Topping for something warmer. I am happy with iFi ZEN stack: DAC v2 & CAN, but I am a big fan of Burr Brown chips

They sound pretty good on the IFI Hip Dac 2
Of course they do

Excellent match with Feliks EnvyAnyone using their 109's with a tube amp? If so, which amp and do the 109's respond well to a warmer tube sound? If you get what I mean lol...
I've read a few reviews/comments that 109's have a slightly warm sig. Is it too much, overly warm when paired with tube?
Currently got a Tor Audio tube amp on order, can't wait to use my tubes again. Just wondering if the 109's would be a good pairing...
Uff, deffo waaay out of my price range... thanks tho. Does the envy have a very clean and detailed sound overall, considering it's tube, but with a touch of tube warmth?Excellent match with Feliks Envy
Yes pretty much that.Does the envy have a very clean and detailed sound overall, considering it's tube, but with a touch of tube warmth?
Then you should take a look at the Feliks EliseI'm looking for warm, coloured, rustic musicality. If that makes sense
Ahh, cheers Thanatos, but still out of my price range... Maybe one day. I'm a support worker for a disabled guy on a very basic wage. To get a new set of phones I have to sell the current pair. I can only afford 1 pair at a time. For amps n DACs, I've got my NJC and a Tor tube on order. Hopefully that'll do me for a while. But yeah, each item is around the £500 mark. The 109's would be second hand for about the same...Yes pretty much that.

And yet I've not managed to break a single 2.5mm jack...
Maybe I'm to soft on my gear

Here is a good comparison between Focal Clear OG (faultless sound - warmer side of neutral - with a great background bass room) and Meze 109 (barely audible background bass - colder, sterile side of neutral - upper midrange and treble focused, but more comfortable):
Their price is more or less the same.
So I've tried the Focal Clear MG and didn't like them compared to the Meze. The 109 is able to play WAY louder and handles a little increase in bass well. I actually returned a pair of Clears. I don't like Focal products so I'm incredibly bias. They clip way too easy and the bass is non existent. My own personal experience.I am interested in comparison between 109pro vs FOCAL CLEAR MG.
Any comparison’s available?
Or is the Focal Clear MG PRO an obvious step up in sound quality?
