I would buy a 99 Classics with tamed bass and deeper pads at $310 in a heartbeat.

I enjoyed the beauty, build, midrange and treble of the 99 Classics, but the relatively shallow pads and bass that bleeds into the mids like Chuck Wepner getting battered by Ali -- sorry for the obscure boxing reference; I'm a boxing fanatic! -- caused me to sell them.

Yes, ultimate resolution and artificial head stage. It can make make sub par recordings intolerable, and every album on Earth isn't perfectly mastered.

Probably just me, but I really wish Meze would have stuck closer to the timbre and tonality of the 99s, and just significantly improved upon everything else. The 99s were the 1st headphones I knew were definite keepers. After several closed back attempts, I can't find the mature, adult version. Why does it seem that all of the newer headphones being released are tuned with this bright upper frequencies.

I highly recommend using the smaller Meze pads, or the Dekonis, unless you have massive ears.

Take out the 2 sets of pieces and paint them black will loose only the white logo...or could let just that single small part goldish

It's more of the black walnut that pulls it all together for me. But yes I could paint mine.
