Meze Audio 109 Pro

We need to take into consideration the build quality and how long you want to use it.
For example every single part on the 109 Pro can be replaced, serviced, so that give us peace of mind.

I'm just saying, future proof price for inflation argument doesn't sit right with me. Any seller could add a 100 dollars to a product and blame it on future infaltion.

Imagine if every manufacturer thought like this. You can also argue that with the high gass prices and electricity, it's harder for people to spend this kind of money on a headphone. But we don't account for that now, do we?
I mean, these are luxury items so I'm not sure why it matters that the cost of living is high everywhere. What CaptainFantastic is referring to is what Antonio said on camera at Munich which is that due to a number of factors over the past few years the cost to make and deliver the 99s has increased to the point there isn't much margin. That he would price the 109 in such a way to avoid raising the price. We can argue over such an approach but it doesn't address whether or not the 109 is worth its price, only individuals and buyers as a whole can determine that. What I can say about the Meze headphones I own, is that their comfort is unmatched to any other headphone I've used and they're 100% serviceable, so as long as their tuning works for me at a given price point I'm happy to pay more.

Why does it matter to Meze then, if they add cost to it due to "future inflation"?

IDK. Perhaps you can ask Antonio. Maybe it doesn't sit well with him when he sees companies increase prices, maybe his response is BS, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Either the headphone is worth it to users at the price or it's not. The community as a whole will mostly determine that.

I agree on that, I don't mind the price too much. I just think it's a cheap argument because you can use external factors as arguments for making it cheaper aswell, but they cherrypicked the external factor argument for making it more expensive. I don't see other manufacturers argue that they have to prepare for future inflation with their prices.

Sony did that to their PS5 because of inflation and it has never happened before a console price has been increased during its lifespan.
Nintendo and Micosoft haven't increased the prices of their consoles and handheld, wether they refused that or not I don't for sure. Marshall increased their prices but that's before inflation if I'm correct. I guess we have to wait till the official release date.

Which comes probably from the fact that most manufacturers charge more for their products to begin with. One Page ago I listed Mezes and a few direct competitors prices

I see Antonios point I.e the T+A Solitaire P started at 4800€ and due to rising manufacturing costs they increased it to 5200€

In mind it's only worth 4800 tho, since it was available at that price on release.

I am aware that this is a purely psychological thing

Antonio Meze's point was in reference to the 99 Classic which they still sell at the same price after X number of years. Because they made it to last and can't raise the price because the price is a big part of it's popularity they make no money on it.

So he's saying Meze can repeat that "mistake" or do what most manufacturers do - which is to release "new" models every year that cost less to manufacture (inferior materials or cheaper labor) to keep the retail price approximately the same - or build in obsolecence and raise the price of replacements for inflation.

Or do what he suggests they are doing - price in inflation in advance.

Either way it comes out the same.

I've never listened to the 109 Pro but as soon as they are up for sale at €799, I'll place this pretty thing in the basket and finish the order asap. It's not usual to see such beautiful designs and there are of course headphones out there at 1499 and much higher but they usually look boring. I'm pretty sure they will sound good but all my headphones have been purchased blindly anyway but one this is for certain: I don't want headphones that looks similar because that makes life boring😛
