Hello everyone.
I'm going to buy the 99 Classics.
What would you say are the best Brainwavz pads to replace the stock ones ?
I'm currently looking at the Sheepskin ones but maybe the Pleather/Hybrid/Velour are better ?
Thank you !!

We like Brainwavz because they're comfy. These aside, we like our 99 Classic with valour pads.

The pleather pads would probably work best considering that stock is pleather as is. The angled pleather might work to put slight demphasis on the bass. Generally, when coming from pleather stock, BW sheepskin would add more midbass bloat while warming the treble a bit; BW microsuede would tame treble and bass, and BW velour should not be used on anything, but you’re welcome to try.

But really, BW velour is bad. Honestly, BW is bad all throughout, so much bad experience with QC. Angled pads are the only reason to buy from them imo. Get the Dekoni Premium (Pleather) ATH50x Pads if you don’t want angled. Better QC and comfort with Dekoni.

EDIT: If you choose to go with microsuede or velour, I highly recommend you get the Dekoni Elite Velour ATH M50x pads. They say velour but they really sound and feel like microsuede.

Hello.
Thank you for you reply.
I don't feel like I can buy the Elite Velour pads from Dekoni without paying taxes.
I initially was going to buy the Brainwavz Sheepskin Pads but I think I'll go for the Hybrid (Pleather/Velour) ones.
The Sheepskin ones will add bass and the Hybrid will make the 99 Classics sound more neutral, is that right ?
I just want to reduce the bass a bit and to improve the mid range.

After connecting these wires to noirs. Wow... I just love the noirs more.

Hi guys.
I just received my Meze 99 Classics and I'm loving them so far.
I can relate to people who say that the sound feels muddy/hidden.
Fortunately, the headset responds very well to equalizers, i'm using the equalizer recommended by George Dobrescu from Audiophile Heaven : https://www.audiophile-heaven.com/2017/04/meze-99-classics.html
I didn't hear any distorsion aswell but i'm still waiting for my Yaxi stPad2 pads to arrive and for the burn-in to take effect.

In company not optimal these cans can sound like so, but feed them with something fast and open and boom, magic at affordable price!

I currently drive them with a FiiO K3 DAC/AMP with a balanced 2,5mm output.
Do you have anything to recommend for an upgrade?
are you using it as an amp, if so what is the source, or are you using it as a USB DAC?
