What do you mean? I really trust that @MezeTeam did a great job with 99 classics and I do think that it's an amazing headphone. Even more because it's made in Romania! We are known for the really high quality of our craftsmanship and our high quality wood. I would own more products made in Romania if it were possible!

Thank you my superuser friend! Really wish I will find a solution to give them a listen! They do look really interesting!

We're are thinking of starting a headphone community in Romania, besides the ones that already exist. What do you think about this? We could organize headphone meets. What do you think @Dobrescu George ? Would you be interested in something of the sort?

The community will not be Meze centered, though, so all cans and in-ears are welcome.

George, one thing you should know, the headphones themselves are not manufactured in Romania, final assembly is made in China. The design, concept, and 3D print prototyping is done in Romania.

Just to be clear I purchased mine from a UK retailer and not direct from Meze. Meze have been responsive & positive when I engaged them about the defective pair (in the newer packaging), I originally received.

To be honest the marks on this have for the most part polished out with a very fine polish. If I can just get hold of the larger pads (if I don't already have them), I'll be more than happy.

Sonically, they're really great and compete with stuff I've heard that cost multiples more. I'm keen to hear Meze's IEMs now!

@leaky74 , @Sweetness2309 is right, Vlad from customer support sometimes amazes even us. You should really get in touch with him regarding the pads. We've sent you a PM.

Cheers!

That would be so very cool!

Even so, I'm glad to see something even remotely connected to Romania :D

There are lots and lots of audio fans in Bucharest as I've discovered after selling a few headphones and DAPs , and I've met a lot of friendly folks who invest their money in this hobby and have a lot of fun with music!

There are many headfi members from Romania actually

Any effort that goes into developing any community is welcome and I just love to see this hobby getting more attention ! :D

Vlad at their customer service is the best. Meze cares about customer satisfaction, at least in my case and from what I have seen. I'm ready to buy the Black Neo 99 Classics as soon as they release them.

+1
I have also been able to verify that they care about the customer. I am also waiting for the 99 neo.

regards

Well guys, since all of you love Vlad so much, we though we should show you his face.

When he's not helping you out, he's killing the drums in Dirty Shirt and he just got endorsed by Murat Diril.

Just a little bit about our team, so you will get to know us better.

Does this packaging mean I've got an older version with smaller pads?

That is the older packaging, which I would guess has the smaller pads. Here is a photo of the new packaging (which has the largest pads):

Why does the name Dirty Shirt sound so familiar to me?...

I think that I heard the band at Posada metal festival in my home city of Campulung Muscel

Me and my wife would always be in the first rows at those concerts in our home town

I forgot if Dirty Shirt had a recital as well in Rock Pub after their Posada festival, but I vaguely remember their performance as being awesome and I vaguely remember talking with the band members as well. This was all when I had long hair and listened to metal ranging from death metal all the way to grind

Sweet memories tho

I'm even more curious to hear a Classics 99 now

Good job Vlad, I guess that explain why the 99 Classics are so good with Metal music

Hi

I just bought my 99 Classics headphones two days ago. Till they arrive, I'm in the market for a desktop amp/dac (separates or combo) that will not exceed the $300 budget. I don't have a current setup and I've spent the past 7 years listening to my B&W P5 through my iPhone. Any advice on a setup that works well with the Meze?

Since the Meze is so efficient, I'd look into something like the Geek Out Plus. Famed sound quality in a small package. One of those versions also does balanced output.

My best take are FiiO DAPs

They even work out of your computer directly!

Since you have been using a portable setup is that why you want a desktop setup? Or would you rather use a portable, quality DAP per chance? The Geek Out Plus does have a good reputation to piggy back on what Pinky said.

The AQ DragonFly Red is a very good match with the 99 Classics.  ($200)

This is the one I was thinking about.

LH Labs GeekOut V2 USB Headphone Amplifier & DAC

It comes in just under your budget, and should outperform the Dragonfly. Though, that is also a good choice.
